Near downtown Salt Lake, adjacent to the University of Utah campus, at the mouth of Emigration Canyon, is a memorial to the Mormon founding of the valley, known as This Is the Place State Park. On the grounds of the memorial, there are several buildings where wedding ceremonies take place, one of them in particular, The Garden Center, is the site of the wedding I officiated over the weekend. As a non-denominational minister and professional wedding officiant, I'm lucky enough to discover a lot of new locations for a wedding ceremony. Before I became a wedding officiant, I never knew about half of these spots, and I was certainly not moved enough in my life by the love and commitment that people make to each other in a wedding ceremony.
