The Emotional Groom

As a professional wedding officiant and non-denominational minister who has performed more than 200 wedding ceremonies in the last couple of years, I've learned that one of my favorite things I run into is the emotional groom. When a man stands across from the woman he wants to spend the rest of his life with, and his emotions get the best of him, that is a powerful thing. And as I stand there in that moment, my first response is normally to say "If you're not crying on your wedding day, I don't know when you will be." Of all the days we get, of all the moments to feel that emotion, the wedding day and the wedding ceremony is exactly the time to really deeply feel those feelings. I love it. And it happened here, in this wedding pictured, the sweetest and one of the most moving expressions I've witnessed as two people held onto each other closely and agreed to walk through this world together. And that's the dream of the wedding officiant, to help couples create something eternal and authentic and powerful. The emotional groom, he is the best.
