As a non-denominational minister, justice of the peace, and wedding officiant, I'm asked to officiate at a wedding ceremony under a million different circumstances...and a shotgun wedding is one of those. Usually a wedding ceremony happens before a family is built, sometimes though it happens after. This weekend I was asked to officiate for a couple in their apartment, with their two best friends, directly next to the "fitness pole" in the front room. Ha. It was fast and functional, and a great way to spend an hour on a Sunday afternoon. And that's how it works sometimes, as a non-denominational minister, my operating hours in most cases are outside the traditional 8:00-5:00. Some ceremonies are small, others are large, some are absolutely functional and decorated by or with a stripper pole. This one was one for the books.
