I'm always surprised at how ceremony responsibilities are shared on the big day. Most non-denominational ministers participate solely in the delivery of the wedding ceremony, leaving other duties such as wedding announcements to the DJ or the father of the bride. This can create a disconnected feeling for participants and the congregation, however, so I recommend to all of my couples that as the minister of ceremonies, it seems as though the officiant would be the most appropriate figure to address those things.
