Fall Elopements

Updated: Oct 23, 2021

That's the gig...sometimes people want to elope on a perfect Fall afternoon, and you end up with pictures like this, without a good camera and without even trying. Yesterday I was asked to officiate two wedding ceremonies. The first was at the point of the mountain for a Bride and Groom whose relationship revolves around paragliding. Just them and two witnesses, not even a ring exchange, just some heartfelt vows and a beautiful view of the valley. The second one (pictured here) took place at Memory Grove downtown at the Meditation Chapel, for a couple who fell in love in Michigan, got engaged in North Carolina, then moved here for work and got married in Utah. As a non-denominational minister, I see tons of variety. From elopements like this to huge wedding ceremony services with hundreds of guests, and everything in between, my job as the wedding officiant and justice of the peace is to not only manage the business of the wedding service, but to create a mood and set the stage for their first steps into married life. Some people think the officiant doesn't matter, but I think it's actually one of the most important decisions you make when prepping for a wedding ceremony.
