A wedding ceremony isn't complete without the cutting of the cake. Whether it's a three-tiered cake with raspberry frosting spread or a decadent red velvet, it all ends up in the same place. As a non-denominational minister, justice of the peace, and wedding officiant, I'm lucky enough to have tried a few. In fact, it's one of the promises I've made myself whenever I'm asked to officiate a wedding ceremony, if I'm still present at the cake cutting, always taste test. A wedding is a once-in-a-lifetime event, and a wedding cake is a once-in-a-lifetime dessert. Whether it's getting smashed in the Bride's face or delicately and quietly tasted in front of family and friends, the wedding ceremony is not complete until the cake is cut.
