The wedding ceremony almost always includes several key components....the wedding itself (officiated by a non-denominational minister preferably), the cutting of the cake, the first dance, and then the after party. Now when a bride and groom gets to the cake portion of the wedding ceremony, the question of playing nice or smashing always comes into question. What should you do at your wedding ceremony? What's an appropriate way to handle this at your wedding? No clear answer, no easy direction, but I will say this. As a non-denominational minister, I've seen it all, and I'd take an irreverent celebration over manners any day of the week. Cut and smash, the only way to go.
